How much money have you wasted in buying the latest crap on the market? No more tube TVs and VCRs? Your collection of cassette tapes? Record players? How about computers and their various accessories you purchased through the years...

Computer Software! All those games I've bought. Can't play them anymore because Windows says they're incompatible. Fucking wasted money. Upgrade to the newest software? What upgrade? It seems like a downgrade. Always have to buy the latest gear to keep up with the Jones'. Well, fuck the Jones'

This article seems relevant. Considering how storage devices have changed over time. The trend for the future is leading us into an online storage solution. This leaves all your data in a 'storage unit' per se. Perhaps monthy charges will become a reality for cyber storage of all sorts.

Will the Internet ever become obsolete?

If you were to take many of your devices back in time, you'd have no way of connecting to "the Internet" as it existed then. Many old devices no longer work today without cobbling in new connections. And you can be pretty sure that many of your existing devices will gradually get less and less connectable as time goes on.

About the only thing I can do with my old tube TV is convert it into a fish tank.

You might want to try looking for emulator software. This stuff lets you play old games on your PC. Check out this link to give you an idea of what to look for:
