That David Hockney video was pretty damn good. Amazing how using mirrors and lenses made the artwork more realistic. I laughed out loud on the academic excuse.

I did too. It's like all the other crap they teach people in school. Bullshit excuses to explain subjects or a watered down history without any social understanding. What a crock! How can anyone SEE the world without a decent history of where we came from.
So, in essence, the artists of yesteryear were tracing light reflections. I thought it was cool how they set up their little reflecting booths along with the posing of their portraits. Almost like they were magicians with their secret techniques to create life like images.
