What gets me about microshaft is the crap the general public gets.  The corporations and governments get all the good stuff. Quick starting software, no bullshit warez, spies, and bots starting and running in the background...slowing systems down to a crawl.  Below par virus protection with a thin firewall veneer.

Windows is an over bloated, over heated, over rated, instrusive monster. This entrapment software is designed to profile all users to better serve its own market purpose for profit.  Feeding themselves and only themselves on the labors of distracted sheep.

Download the new version for free?  Why not?  Wait a year or two then microshaft can start charging its users a service fee to use the software.  All the while asking all those who do download and use it to send in their error reports so it can be debugged and updated as needed.  What a racket!!

:D

Love me and despair!

A Traffic Analysis of Windows 10

Some Czech guy did a traffic analysis of data produced by Windows 10, and released his findings the other day. His primary thesis was that Windows 10 acts more like a terminal than an operating system -- because of the extent of the "cloud" integration, a large portion of the OS functions are almost dependent on remote (Microsoft's) servers. The amount of collected information, even with strict privacy settings, is quite alarming.

Analysis of Windows 10: In its principle, it is only a terminal to collect information about the user's fingers, eyes and voice!

With the advent of Windows 10, I decided to undergo this operating system a few tests and the results of my research, I would now like to introduce. The collected knowledge can be alarming for someone, but I must admit that at the time of mobile platforms, Android and iOS, it's not surprising, at least for me. Operating system Windows 10 is inherently more terminal end, than the operating system , because many processes and function of this system is directly or indirectly dependent on remote servers and databases, and Microsoft Windows 10 is the first operating system from Microsoft that some of the functions of the extended core operating remotely placed on their servers.

What is happening under your fingers?

Windows 10 performs a collection of texts entered on the keyboard. The texts are stored in temporary files and 1x 30 minutes shall be sent to the following sites:

Opt out of global data surveillance programs like PRISM, XKeyscore and Tempora.

Help make mass surveillance of entire populations uneconomical! We all have a right to privacy, which you can exercise today by encrypting your communications and ending your reliance on proprietary services.

[UPDATE] Although Microsoft is yet to provide official clarification on the matter, reports have suggested the EULA cited below pertains to Microsoft services, as opposed to the Windows 10 software itself.

This means the changes made to the license agreement were intended to protect against illicitly obtained Xbox Live and Windows Store content, not all pirated content on a PC.

GameSpot has asked Microsoft for a statement clarifying the policy and will update this story when it has been issued. [UPDATE ENDS]

O&O ShutUp10 means you have full control over which comfort functions under Windows 10 you wish to use, and you decide when the passing on of your data goes too far. Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated.

Anyone have any reviews?

Playing hide and seek with Microsoft isn't that much fun

The biggest concern with Windows 10 is that it’s slowly becoming a service, meaning your personal info and every action you perform on a Windows PC are monitored. Every once in a while, Microsoft receives a report and it’s most likely done without you even realizing.

Manually enhancing computer privacy via Settings panel

Although it can take a bit of time, we’re going to go through all Settings and see what can be done to make Microsoft collect less data.

Most operating systems, including Microsoft Windows versions, use the hosts file to translate computer names. Also known as “host names” to numerical IP addresses, the hosts file is similar to using a phone book to find the matching phone number of a specific person’s name.

Note: This article was written at the time when Windows 10 was at Technical Preview build phase.

While Domain Name System – or DNS – is mostly used for this function (being a centralized and half-automatically managed name resolution system), the HOSTS file can be used as a local name resolution mechanism, and when used in conjunction with other name resolution mechanisms such as DNS, the HOSTS file takes precedence over them.

This is why many users still edit the HOSTS file and add names and IP addresses of servers, websites and other computers they frequently access to it.
