Gothic cathedrals are an excellent example of hiding in plain sight. The cathedrals, with their “spiritual architecture”, where gravity is seemingly overcome by the flying buttresses externally, and where walls through architecture seem dissolve into light to allow the visible manifestation of the power of god to penetrate the building as it penetrates the soul... These buildings seem to defy gravity, great masses of stone soaring upward, yet seemingly as light as air, giving us a psychological lift from earth-like mind to heaven-like mind.

The word “religion” stems from Latin religare , which means to tie up (ligare) once again, for the second time (re) .

On one hand, the mystery of existence and the harmony of the universe arouse in man to a natural and genuine feeling of awe, which man expresses through spontaneous prayers. On the other hand, some behaviours – rituals and ritual prayers – were codified by a group of men – the sacerdotal class. The priest is a professional figure, a ‘pontiff', an intermediary between earth and heaven. The word stems from Latin pontifex , which means pontem facere , to build a bridge.

The temporal power vested this class with the job of organizing such behaviours and to oversee the relevant performance by the laity. I will call “religiosity” the former and “religion” the latter.

We know that, during ancient times, it often happened that religion conflicted with religiosity. The religious hierarchy trying to overlay the faith, religiosity, for some purposes, which cannot be considered as spiritual. This practice is called religio instrumentum regni , religion as a means of ruling; spirituality then necessarily withdrew itself, far from danger, being content to speak to those few men who had “ears to hear” and “eyes to see”.

A proverb says that if one wishes to hide a tree, he has to put it in the wood, not in the desert, or, as Edgar Allan Poe noted in The Purloined Letter, the best place to hide something is in plain view. No wonder, therefore, that religiosity's voice can be still heard in catholic churches, especially in the Gothic ones, despite 2,000 years of religio instrumentum regni .

Mary Madonna and oval

One of the most striking images in Valencia Cathedral is the Mary Madonna stain glass window encased in an oval, the shape of an egg symbolising the birth of creation.

“The pagan intellectuals reclothed their original ideas in a garment of christian phraseology but bestowed the keys of the symbolism only upon those duly initiated and bound to secrecy”

“It is particularly fitting that the Masons, who were the principal builders of cathedrals and churches during the greatest cathedral-building period, should now have a prominent part in the movement to build America’s greatest cathedral (…) Little need be added to the story of Freemasonry during the cathedral-building period; its monuments are its best history, alike of its genius, its faith and its symbols.”

Prophetic Pillars on St. John the Divine Cathedral?

St. John the Divine Cathedral article on the building’s occult symbolism and its role in the United Nations’ efforts to push a single world religion. Probably the most shocking part of that article was the pictures of the columns, conceived in 1997,  depicting the destruction of New York city (including the Twin Towers). The Church was named after St. John the Divine, the author of the Book of Revelation.

Little to no documentation exists about the meaning of the pillars and the rest of the Cathedral contains a lot of art with strange symbolism alluding to catastrophe and a new era. Strange place. In the second picture you can see huge tidal waves coming into the city of New York and the twin towers. Symbols of destruction.

Nice thread subject, Jesse!

I'm thinking that all these architectual great works of mystery started in Ancient Egypt. It's been morphing it's form for millenia.  Still the same type of framework today to shock and awe the uninitiated and uneducated to believe in an artifical structure of human control. It keeps us all down to our baser levels of existence. Leaving us nothing but dry husks at the end! A second death, so to speak...

As the first Gothic cathedral to be built in Britain, Canterbury was at the forefront of an architectural revolution. But the building we know today has its origins in the most famous murder of the medieval age -- that of Thomas Becket in December 1170.

St. Giles' in Edinburgh is among our most modest cathedrals, yet became the symbolic heart of Scottish Christianity. When Charles I tried to change the way Scots worshipped and turn the church into a cathedral, he was playing with fire. Here, the building's unsettled history is brought to life.

In the early 19th century the grand architecture of York Minster was an enigma. But then in 1829 "the voice of God" drove Jonathan Martin to burn the cathedral down. While locals became obsessed with finding and punishing the perpetrator, architect John Browne became equally enthralled by the secrets the decimated structure began to reveal.

Use your mind, heart, and soul to study the esoteric or unknown.  Look within....intuition only takes you so far and may lead one astray! Decide for yourself as to why the 'builders' made these 'great works'.  Their purpose is not altruistic.  It is only cloaked to look that way! The example of Jesus Christ is not a priority...Preaching and practicing are two different things!

This goes far back into history.  The great pyramid is the greatest architectual example, that we know of, regarding the great work of alchemical esoteric knowledge:

You may want to check out this link detailing the Ancient Esoteric Agenda.  It offers much more on the Egyptian great works.  The great pyramid is not the only example.  The Temple of Karnak is quite compelling in its magical quality.  It is as awe inspiring as the cathedrals....and then some!

Seasons and cycles in the Universe.  Even down here on Earth. Everything has a season.  Good times, bad times. Those who are aware of these things know the planet is going through another cycle. Cleansing itself by fire, water, air, and earth and are taking full advantage of the ignorance of the worlds population to safe themselves for their selfish so called elite purpose. Humanity is just a part of this cycle.

Elysium only for the privileged few. The rest of us get the shaft.  .   .   .  Wheels within wheels!
