The real origin of the term comes from a 1970 Monty Python’s Flying Circus skit.  In this skit, all the restaurant’s menu items devolve into SPAM.  When the waitress repeats the word SPAM, a group of Vikings in the corner sing “SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, lovely SPAM!  Wonderful SPAM!”, drowning out other conversation, until they are finally told to shut it.

SPAM gets a bad rap from most mainland Americans (some of whom haven’t even tried it) but for those of us who can overlook its unsexy presentation, the super salty and extra savory meat is actually the foods of the gods. SPAM may not be the most refined or sophisticated eat, but here are some simple and creative recipes that might change your mind about the processed protein.

There can be quality to spam. Depends on how you cook it or use it in a recipe as part of a larger meal. Serving spam plain up really sucks. Not even a slice of bread or two to go along with it. Right out the can is cheap spam. Oh well, I'll take my time and cook up a few dishes. See what looks good to eat...
